Girls 2011 Non-Traveling Tournaments "VolleyHut Spike-Fest"
All Non-Traveling Tournaments will be hosted at the Epic Volleyball Club
facility.
Non-Traveling tournaments are intended for teams who wish only to compete
locally, and do not travel and compete in SCVA Regional tournaments.
This year we are proud to introduce the VolleyHut Spike-Fest. The
Spike-Fest is a non-traveling tournament schedule with many special features
designed for local teams. All teams entered in the VolleyHut Spike-Fest
will have their records tracked and then have their teams placed in a
seasonal standing. At the end of the year, the team in each age-group with
the strongest record will take home one of the three VolleyHut Spike-Fest
perpetual Trophies. The trophy will remain with that team's club until it is
presented to next year's seasonal age-group champion.

All pools and results, seasonal ranking and Non-Traveling
Tournament information will be posted on the separate website. The
Spike-Fest website will be supported by the Spike-Fest sponsor VolleyHut.
Formats
The Spike-Fest 2011 schedule will have two types of tournaments, Pool Play and Challenges.
Pool Plays: A team plays every other team in its pool once. There are no
playoffs, just pool play. Teams participating will receive regular points
to go towards their season ranking for their wins and loses (or their
standing in pool). These Pool Play events are designed so teams can play a
variety of competition in a short day format.
Challenges: Teams begin in play pool, and then in the second half of the
event they are put into a playoff format based on their performance.
Playoffs will entail either a single elimination format, or a divisional
(power/consolation) pool. Teams participating will receive regular points
for pool play AND additional points for respective finishes in playoffs.
With extended play the Challenge tournaments can yield even greater points
affecting a team's seasonal ranking. There will be prizes (lanyards, water
bottles, tee shirts etc.) for the winners of both the Silver and Gold
division of the Challenge event playoffs. The Challenge events are designed
to provide a variety of competition also, with a chance to play in one of
the playoff formats often found in elite volleyball tournaments.
The Spike-Fest organizers will make every effort to separate teams from
the same club in the tournament's initial pools.
All of our events will provide, one referee per court. Teams will provide
line judges and scorekeepers, as assigned. The facility will be open at 6:30
AM. Morning waves will begin at 7:30 A.M. Afternoon waves will begin at 1:30
P.M.
